How did you spend your summer? Were you lucky enough to spend the summer at the beach? I actually did not plan any vacation during the hot season since I'm going on holiday in October and December. But hey, I still managed to fall in love with a new city in a short time: Here is a recap of my Vienna weekend getaway in the month of July..
It was ridiculously hot in Vienna, Europe in general this summer, and I knew that sightseeing would turn into a tough task but me and my companion wanted to explore as many places as possible - and of course, wearing all black when it's 37 degrees outside. The first thing we did after checking in at the hotel, was picking up a Vienna Pass - a city card with various benefits that helped us to max out sightseeing.
What better way to start the day than strolling around the beautiful Volksgarten.
After soaking in the morning sun we went for a guided city stroll.
Firs stop: Albertina Palace - the Habsburg Staterooms
Whenever I'm in a pompous place I get really carried away by all the rich colors and the golden detailing..
Before we headed to the Viennese Prater to get a ride on the giant wheel, we desperately needed to cool down. Have a look here to see how we escaped from the heat wave :)
On Sunday we decided to visit the palace Schönbrunn.
Let me tell you one thing: That day was extremely hot. Hello Kitty was my life-saver!
Right before we had to take our flight, we decided to make an excursion into the impressive museum of natural history and art history. The museum you see in the picture above is one of the museum building complex. It felt like we were in another palace..the interior and the collections are insane.
Vienna is a beautiful and lively city surrounded by historic buildings. Our short trip to our neighbouring country was so exhausting, but very rewarding! If only we had more time..
