The stylish brow

I always thought Turkish girls tend to have insanely beautiful brows. I mean not those overly plucked and painted ones but naturally quite thick and well-groomed brows that frame the face in a very flattering way. For instance these two gorgeous Turkish (blogger) ladies are a perfect example in my opinion  (1, 2). I on the other hand don't fall into that category. True, my eyebrows are not very high-maintenance, in fact I so rarely pluck them (often I simply forget or don't think it's necessary) and have never had a professional reshape, cut or groom them. Still I always found them a bit sparse and not long enough. I remember a few years ago asking MiJi "Chingu*, do I look different today?" and she examined my face, saying something looked different but she couldn't exactly pin-point what it was. I had penciled in my brows and was absolutely happy with how much more defined they looked! Until this day doing my brows has become an indispensable part of my daily makeup routine. In fact so much so that I'd rather skip mascara than doing my eyebrows if I'm in a hurry!

A couple of months ago I have been sent these brow products by MAC (The stylish brow collection) and have added the pencil in my daily kit. I know that a lot of people use powders and gels and I look forward to trying out these options as well. If you never tried to define your brows, I definitely recommend you pick up a product and start exploring because it truly makes such a difference to your overall look. Above you see my bare brows without anything and below a bit more defined using the Velux Brow Liner in Deep Dark Brunette. It glides on nice and smooth, with a rich powdery formula. I'm definitely not an expert but to me, there is a huge difference between the before and after picture, I just feel more confident seeing myself with more enhanced eyebrows.

The pencils and gelcremes weren't limited edition (I think) so if you need help reshaping your brows or in choosing the right product for your needs, I'm sure the lovely girls at the MAC counter are happy to help.

* means "friend" in Korean (I think), we often refer to each other by this term.

Zalando Feature: Cropped Top

After Neslihan's 'Leather Jacket Part', here's my part of the Zalando Collaboration: Cropped Top!
I went for the Carin Wester cropped top with cut-out details. The top is pretty bold, not really something you would relate to my style, but I fell in love with the cut-outs and decided to create two different looks, which are rather subtle than reveiling ;)
Here's the Zalando Feature!

Sunday's Recipe: Strawberry Muffins

Summer fruit are almost alone by themselves dessert, but it's also fun to actually bake something with them. A couple of weeks ago I made these muffins for a family get-together and judging by the feedback I've gotten I'd say this recipe is a new favorite. I found the recipe on my go-to German cooking site and translated it for you. Here's what you need to make these strawberry and yogurt muffins with white chocolate chips...

Ingredients:

250 g strawberries
250 g flour
1 pack of vanilla custard powder
1 pinch of salt
3 eggs
100 ml oil
1 pack vanilla sugar
100 g sour cream
150 g of natural yogurt (or vanilla/strawberry)
150 g white chocolate
125 g of sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tsp baking soda

How to:

First, mix flour with baking powder, custard powder, baking soda, sugar, vanilla sugar, salt and the previously chopped chocolate and set aside. Separate the eggs and beat the whites with a pinch of salt so they're slightly stiff. In another bowl stir together egg yolks, oil, sour cream and yogurt. Now  sprinkle in the flour mixture and stir briefly (until the dry ingredients are moist). Next wash and slice the strawberries. Carefully add them into the mixture along with the egg whites, lifting and not stirring too much. Now fill the muffin cups lined with paper to 3/4 and bake in a preheated oven at 180 ° C top / bottom heat about 20 minutes. Makes about 8 medium or 12 small muffins.

Your moist and fluffy muffins are almost ready. Enjoy and let me know if you make these at home..!

Lake of the four forest cantons

I spent a very relaxing weekend in Lucerne with collegues and especially on Sunday it truly felt like I was on mini vacation. We spent the whole Sunday on a boat on the lake of Lucerne (literally translated it is called the lake of the four forest cantons) and since it was raining a day before, I didn't bring a bikini and shorts - but I should have as it was so sunny and warm! Instead I had this very classic combo of a nautical silk top, white jeans, denim jacket and yellow ballerina flats.
